Forest School

“The more risks you allow children to take, the better they learn to take care of themselves.” Roald Dahl

At Copthorne Community Infant School, we love Forest School.  We are lucky enough to have our own Forest School area on site.  The children explore the woodlands, play games, climb trees, make dens, help make fires, learn how to use tools safely and have fun working together, solving problems and making things from natural materials.

Reception Class participate in Forest Schools on a Monday afternoon, they stay at school and use our extensive grounds to practice the skills required before going into the woodland.

Year 1 - We take small groups, on a 6-week block, into the woodland on a Thursday afternoon where we learn new skills such as working with tools.  We have snacks and hot chocolate as it is hard work being in the forest!

Year 2 - We take small groups, on a 6-week block, into the woodland on a Thursday afternoon where we put our new skills into practice. Year 2 also have a full day in the woodland during the summer, which everyone looks forward to.
