Class Teacher Teaching Assistant
This is our normal class timetable but things can change at short notice.
Year 2 have their very own class mascot called Barney Bear! Barney chooses a different child each week to go and stay with them. He is very much looking forward to having fun with the children and we look forward to reading all about his adventures in his journal.

Well done Year 2!

Today has been a sad but exciting day as we finally released our Painted Lady butterflies. We have observed them being tiny caterpillars, chrysalides and then butterflies. The children have loved watching the changes.
Trip to Nottingham University
The children visited Nottingham University in order to find out about life in further education. They loved being detectives around the grounds and finding out interesting things about life at university.
Pen Licence Award
Congratulations to our very first Pen Licence holder! I wonder who could be awarded with this wonderful award next?
Our new class pets have finally arrived after a 3 day journey through the post and then an overnight stay at the post-office depot! Phew, they are all wiggling away today! Keep an eye out for the caterpillars when we return to school on Tuesday.
Meet our new pets! All in need of a name!
Spring Term 1 and 2
Year 2 become authors!
We have been learning all about penguins in our topic this half term and wrote our own books. We shared our books with the Year 1 children and they learnt lots of new facts. Mrs Bayliss is so proud of our achievements!
A visit from a real Antarctic explorer!
We have been learning about Ernest Shackleton and his expeditions to the Antarctic. We were visited today by a real explorer. Ian Johnson visited the Antarctic 30 years ago and told us all about his time there. He showed us lots of photographs from his time in the South Pole and had lots of stories to tell us.
Autumn Term 1 and 2
The children are working with Mr White this half term on Athletic skills.
Craft morning at Woodbridge Junior School 10.10.16
A huge thank you to the children and staff at Woodbridge for hosting a very successful craft morning. Our year 2 children worked with the Hedgehog class and did themselves proud by demonstrating outstanding behaviour. The hedgehogs that the children made from old books were amazing, I am sure you will agree! It was great to see so many of our parents there too. A great morning!
Music with Mr Hutchinson
We are very lucky to be working with Mr Hutchinson, a Music teacher from David Nieper Academy. In just one session the children learnt how to control their voices whilst echoing a rhythm, followed a rhythm whilst marching and even how to waltz! Quite impressive for 30 minutes work I would say!
Healthy Wraps 12.10.16
As part of our Super Humans topic, the children have been learning about keeping healthy. We have talked about which foods are healthy and how they affect our body. In literacy this week, we made our own healthy wraps and then wrote instructions using imperative verbs. The children had great fun!
Dance with Miss Elizabeth
The children have been fortunate to work with a very experienced dance teacher over the last 5 weeks and have learnt Street dancing and Rock and Roll. Miss Elizabeth has also been working with children from another local school and we were able to showcase our dances to each other at the Watch Horn Centre. I was very impressed with how my class were super well behaved and they certainly 'show-cased' what they had learnt with Miss Elizabeth!
Harvest Festival 21.10.16
The whole school took part in a Harvest festival today. The performances from each class were brilliant! After the performance, the year 2 children delivered Harvest good to homes in the community around school. We had lots of lovely comments made to the children about how grateful the recipients were. Well done everyone!

The children have taken part in a workshop today which aimed at teaching them all about the need to keep safe whilst using the internet. It was a fun and busy day. Thank you to the parents that were able to come and watch the play.

The children were invited to go and sing song of their Christmas songs in the church. We also sang some traditional Christmas carols with the congregation.
Planting Spring Bulbs with Mrs Clayton

Design Technology Fire Vehicles Project
As part of our Fire, Fire! topic this half term, the children have designed and made fire vehicles to rescue our class mascot Barney from the Great Fire of London. It was a very hectic but fun day and the vehicles the children made were amazing!!
What a busy and exciting Christmas period we have had! Our Christmas Nativity, Prickly Hay, was a great success with our audiences. The children worked really well as a team in order to learn song words and script lines and made us all so so proud in our two performances.
